Space Available--Our Journey to Idaho

We left for Wichita Kansas early in the morning on Tuesday. We were finally able to catch a Space A flight out of Alaska. Kansas was as close as we could get. We drove from Kansas to Rapid City South Dakota where my mom was attending a work conference. We were able to hitch a ride with her the rest of the way to Idaho.
This is us at the airport right before we left. We got there about 4am....waited with Dan until about 6 am, then borded the plane and finally left around 7 am. It was a straight 6 hr. flight.

This is a picture once we got settled on the aircraft. It was loud and a little dark. I was pushing ear plugs into the boys ears the whole way there. Poor Jack had been sick all weekend and threw up, but once he got that out of his system he slept most of the way.

Ben had a blast the whole time. We were the only family with small children on the flight. The rest were all retired couples. The airmen treated Benson so well. They let him help fly the plane and work the controls in the refueling area.

This picture is out the window when we were flying over the Yukon Territory. This picture doesn't do it any justice....it was an incredible view! Snow capped mountains that appeared to be untouched by any living thing.

After we had lunch Ben curled up next to Jack and they slept until we got to Kansas. They are so cute. They were both so tired. It is kind of amazing that they could even sleep. The airplane was pretty loud the whole time and the temperature was crazy. It would be blazing hot for one minute and then chilly the next. No complaints from me though.....it was free! You can't beat that!

When we finally made it to Kansas it was warm and windy. We had just left snowy cold Alaska so again, no complaining from me. We stayed in a hotel that night and the next day we heading off for South Dakota to meet my mom.
I am glad our first Space A flight experience was a good one. I have heard some bad stories. It is an experience we won't forget and the boys and I had fun. The airman were so kind to us. Benson had a blast. I only wish Dan could've been there with us.
